For a little context, one of the computers in my house is a small box running linux acting as a general purpose server. Among other things it handles my backups. Last night while adding a new computer to be backed up, it turned off. I assumed that I had accidentally hit the power switch and turned it off (though this has never happened before). Today, I tried adding this same computer to the backup rotation (since it failed due to the power off last night) and the server powered down again. I now know why this happened, and it wasn’t completely my fault.
